Mayor Benjamin set to speak at Harvard University on “Building a Great City”

COLUMBIA, S.C. (September 9, 2019) – On September 10, 2019, Columbia Mayor Steve Benjamin will take part in the “Voices in Leadership” webcast series, hosted by the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health. Mayor Benjamin’s talk will be titled “Building a Great City” and will focus on the innovative practices the Mayor has adopted in Columbia & reflect on his successful tenure as President of the US Conference of Mayors. The thirty-minute webcast will begin at 12pm and will be moderated by Former Massachusetts State Representative Jeffrey Sanchez. 

The Voices in Leadership webcast is intended to give a platform to high-profile leaders to offer insight on their areas of expertise. Previous speakers of the series include: former Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon, former President of Columbia Juan Manuel Santos; Senior Senator from Massachusetts, Elizabeth Warren; former Senator Majority Leader, Thomas Daschle; former Secretary of Defense, Ash Carter; U.S. Surgeon General, Jerome Adams; President of Harvard University, Larry Bacow; former U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte; and Senior Advisor for President Obama, Valerie Jarrett, among others.
